What Do You Know About Natural Deodorants?
We do lots of research, at The British Health Store. And like us, we are sure, if you start looking into what we all use in normal cosmetic products day to day, you would be horrified.
If you get a moment: look into the chemicals, hormone disruptors, paragons, phthalates, fragrances preservatives - It's just all shocking.
You may find, if you stop using chemicals in your day to day products, you may get less acne, less headaches / migraines and less illnesses, generally. Also, as your body isn't fighting chemicals, it can concentrate directly on reducing a potential virus. Whilst our bodies are very resilient - there is no real need to go down the synthesised cosmetics route these days. We now have quality natural choices.
Sweating is totally, completely 100% natural. It’s our bodies way of expelling toxins and regulating temperature. Without sweat, just imagine what hot a cesspool of toxins our bodies would be!
Additionally, sweat itself doesn’t actually smell: it’s just a combination of water and salt. What does produce that tangy body odour, is when sweat comes into contact with the bacteria that lives on our skin (also natural and normal!)
You are supposed to sweat. Attempting to stop or interfere with this process is, to put it bluntly, not good for you. Conventional deodorant contains antibacterial ingredients that are meant to kill the natural bacteria on your skin before it gets the chance to mingle with your sweat and cause a stink. Antiperspirants deal with sweat directly by including aluminum compounds, that block up your sweat glands.
But you know what's worse than smelling a bit musky sometimes? Alzheimer's and breast cancer, both of which have been linked to the same aluminum compounds found in antiperspirants.
We are here to tell you that natural deodorants really do work.
Start by not wearing anything under your arms for the first three days. This will give your body a chance to expel any lingering remnants of the conventional stuff (aluminium!?) while also allowing it to reset.
Then apply the Natural Deodorant. Roll it on to your underarm and then if there is a little excess, just massage it in, like a cream.
When you look for natural deodorant, you want one that has a nice balance of baking soda and essential oils. We've found this combination most effective for odor control. Also make sure to steer clear of anything that contains parabens or propylene glycol, which is a known skin irritant.
